I just rippped up one garden area...stripped it down to the dirt and raked it out like it never was and now I am rearranging another one. Took down  the bird houses, changing the rocks, moving plants.....I am sick of watering things for hours every day. We have had 2/10ths of an inch of rain since June and it seems to be every summer lately we get a severe drought so what's the point of having flowers if the plants look like crap all summer. I'll post before and after  photos some day....

This is one area in the spring. When the daffodils die, the stella dora lilies  filled the area and the far left was ground cover types and the far right area had summer perennials. I dug it all out.

NO need to water now. I had to drag  about 200 feet of water hose to keep that stuff alive...no more. :-)

The plants here were struggling to stay alive. They are suppose to be full of  black eye Susan's,  cone daisy, tall phlox, etc but I just can't stand there for hours watering while my baby trees on the other side are dying too.

So SAD!  Sorry you had to do that, but with no rain it makes sense to go back to natural.  Maybe next year.

I put the houses on the edge of the woods in the back center of photo, they are just sitting there for now  till I buy some concrete to plant them.

In progress here....I am shrinking down to a small garden and will move the other flowers back and put more gravel down.
I am done for a few days......

It's the only sensible thing to do if you don't have the UG Sprinkler system and those can really elevate the water bill even if they relieve the hand watering.

Emily....I am on well water. No bill. :-) However, I don't know how much I have so to waste it every day is nerve racking.  I would rather  not water so much.

Nay, For it to be Military it has to have some Army green somewhere, with white painted rocks, LOL!
