Science turning toward the dark side

Richard Horton, the Editor-in-Chief of Lancet,  says that half of all medical studies are wrong and that medical science “has taken a turn towards darkness.” Scientists have been corrupted by money, conflicts of interest, and an obsession for fashionable trends.  Horton says that climate research suffers from similar problems, because its funding comes from agenda-driven government sponsors and green activists.

Too much Gov. Funding.  AKA Easy Money.

It's worse than merely government funding. The problem is that private grants tend to have strings attached that require the conclusion match what the funding source seeks. It is becoming less likely that a funding source is paying for research and more likely they are paying for conclusions. This appears more clearly in areas like climate change, but, it emerges in other areas from time to time. The article points to medicine as another area where this is becoming more prevalent.

This is quite distrubing, given the fact that all of these studies (which are industry sponsored) are used to develop drugs/vaccines to supposedly help people, train medical staff, educate medical students and more.

I have Been saying that for years !!!


Same with any funded study into gun violence --Its predetermined To show A positive towards gun control due to those doing the study and their funding !

You're right - it's a money maker and getting rich off of a lot of hogwash is prevalent nowadays.

Believe what you see with your own eyes and take the rest with a pinch of salt!

I guess we are talking about medical research as well.   Don't get me started on that as my pet peeve (no pun intended) is the medical research on live animals and especially the drug makers who believe that torturing horses for years to make the drug Premarin is necessary for contraception even though there are other methods.  Premarin is a moneymaker - that's all that matters.
