The UC Police Department (UCPD) is a fully empowered law enforcement agency that operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. All police officers are certified by the state of Ohio and have full police authority. The department currently employs 72 police officers and 26 security officers.

Even the Campus police have grown in many Universities that are far from what they used to be 40 years ago when student cadets worked with the local police departments when there was a problem on campus.  Bigger government, etc is not always better.

Tensing's attorney, Stewart Mathews, said that he was shocked that his client was indicted on a murder charge and that Tensing did not intend to kill DuBose.

Tensing, who could face up to life in prison if convicted, has said he thought he was going to be dragged under the car and "feared for his life," Mathews said.

Mathews said a video from the body camera of a police officer who arrived right after the shooting shows Tensing lying in the street after he had gotten free of the car, but that video hasn't been released by authorities.

"With the political climate in this country with white police officers shooting black individuals, I think they need somebody to make an example of," Mathews said.

Authorities have said Tensing stopped the car and a struggle ensued after DuBose failed to provide a driver's license and refused to get out of the car.

"I didn't even do nothing," DuBose can be heard telling Tensing. DuBose held up what appears to be a bottle of gin.

Aubrey DuBose, the victim's brother, called the shooting "senseless" and "unprovoked." He said the family is upset but wants any reaction to the case to be nonviolent and done in a way that honors his brother's style.

"Sam was peaceful," he said. "He lived peaceful. And in his death, we want to remain peaceful. Like my mom said, let God fight the battle."

IF caserio wants to argue anything he should stick to asserting his opinion in line with the US Constitution.

We have a right to be armed. The police have a right to bear arms too.

What is wrong with our nation - over and over and over - and I do wonder if this COP in Ohio is a indoctrinated dem or GOP voter - is we have "gun laws" on our books and we DON'T enforce them. We don't take ANY of our laws seriously and we DON'T HOLD trigger happy racist cops slaughtering Americans with their publicly issued weaponry LEGALLY ACCOUNTABLE when they engage in criminal conduct.


You really want to see gun violence cease or be dramatically reduced in the USA - you incarcerate anyone and all persons convicted of crimes with guns by incarcerating them IN OUR JAIL SYSTEM FOR EXTENDED PERIODS OF PUNITIVE TIME. You intentionally target and murder someone with a gun solely to experience the thrill of killing a human being,  you expect to not see the light of day for the rest of your life. Which is exactly the societal punishment this police officer in Ohio deserves if he killed this rights protected man just for the "thrill of the kill". As it appears.
