An American dentist with an affinity for killing rare wildlife using a bow and arrow has been identified as the man who shot and killed Zimbabwe's most famous lion earlier this month, local officials claim.

According to the article it's not entirely clear that the hunt was illegal. Unethical perhaps, but not necessarily illegal.

The lion was lured from his protected area to an unprotected area by tying raw meat to the back bumpers of vehicles.

Hmmm! How proud he must feel?

Not too far from where I am currently living, there was a deer hunting preserve.  Over the years they fenced in a rather large area with a large deer herd living inside the fenced area.

For a fee, they would allow hunters to come in and shoot a deer from some platforms built around the edges and in good locations to allow an easy kill.

It must have been like hunting in a zoo. 

I haven't heard about it in years, so I don't think it exists any longer.

Thanks Jst I guess :x lol . I heard on the radio last year a lot of companies were upset they had to change their name since Isis never used to mean what it means now and levant includes a greater area & the mass murder group seems to be creeping ever further.  But just googled and it's political too not wanting the last S -- meaning Syria.

I read this poor lion languished for 3 days after being hit with a bow and arrow then was shot.

Also read more than a few months back about a magnificent 50 year old bull elephant who was beloved and of course had the most gorgeous tusks was mercilessly poached with a poison dart; just one of a thousand stories re rhino's, leopards etc I hate reading.
