I can see letting people out of prison for drug possession/use. Drug distribution is something completely different. They kill our children without violence.

Obama is a BLEEDING HEART LIBERAL.  who thinks that all he has to do is talk to those who are misunderstood and everything will be just ducky.

He thinks that mandatory sentencing for drug dealers is wrong... He is certain that if we treat them right and release them, they will never take, procure or sell another joint, LSD, heroin, smack or any other drug as long as they live.

Lets face the truth... Damn, they may even vote Democratic

Of course, he also thinks that those terrorists that we release from Gitmo will never again display their hatred for the USA or engage in any sort of terrorism.

The man has a serious problem... He needs a full time team of therapists.

Law's have changed since the draconian sentencing requirements of years ago.  Most of these people have already served 15 - 20 yrs for their crimes.

Most of those have been for federal prisoners incarcerated for drug offenses who were slapped with long sentences mandated under guidelines set during a drug-and-crime wave in the 1980s. Under current sentencing guidelines most of those prisoners would have already finished serving time.

Of the 46 prisoners whose sentences were commuted on Monday, 13 were sentenced to prison for life. Most of those commuted sentences will now end in November, a several month transition period that officials said allowed for arrangements to be made in halfway homes and other

LESS THAN FIVE WERE CHARGED WITH SOMETHING OTHER THAN DISTRIBUTION OF CRACK OR METH AND ONE OF THE FIVE HAD AN UNLICENSED HANDGUN! SO WE ARE TALKING ABOUT DEALERS NOT SOME KID WITH A BLUNT! SO WHAT'S YOUR POINT! IF THE DEMAND WAS THERE THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN SELLING HEROINE!

You know how you read in the newspaper that so and so had overdosed on drugs.  I read it and think that we could solve a lot of problems if we furnished the druggies with a free overdose hidden in the viles or plastic bags or however they get their drugs delivered for their personal use.

We have to pay for some funerals...but it would save a lot of expenses spent attempting to stop the stupidity of drugging yourself.
we could close some jails and prisons plus put a lot of social programs and workers into other occupations.
