When I was a kid the NRA was a great organization.  They worked with the schools and promoted gun safety, hunting and being in the outdoors.  Somewhere along the line the NRA got hijacked by a bunch of goofy gun nuts who have turned it into a national disgrace.

AHHHH BUT THAT WAS BEFORE THE LEFT STARTED TO TRY AND ERODE THE CONSTITUTION, KINDA LIKE WHAT CAME FIST THE CHICKEN OR THE EGG, HAD IT NOT BEEN FOR THE EXTREMISTS THE NRA WOULD STILL BE  WHAT IT WAS! NOW DO YOU GET IT?

ALSO AS FAR AS THE NRA AND THE PHONE CALL, HOW IS THAT DIFFERENT FROM THE LEFT CALLING EVERYONE ON THE RIGHT A RACIST?

Many cannot stand the fact that the NRA is the oldest civil rights organization in the U.S.    They hate the fact the NRA helped the blacks protect themselves against the Democratic KKK and other hate groups before the 20th century.

The initial wave of gun laws was instituted after the Civil War to deny blacks the ability to defend themselves.

The NRA actually helped blacks defend themselves from violent KKK Democrats in the south, not the other way around.

As new chapters where formed, many helped teach Black Americans how to protect themselves from hate groups like the KKK.  Democrats have been gun control advocates in some form.  In the past, it was to keep guns out of the hands of Black Americans.

Following the firebombing of his house in 1956, Dr. Martin Luther King, who was, among other things, a Christian minister, applied for a gun permit but authorities found him unsuitable.

The NRA opposed these discretionary gun permit laws and proceeded to grant NRA charters to blacks who sought to defend themselves from Klan violence — including the great civil rights hero Robert F. Williams.

A World War II Marine veteran, Williams returned home to Monroe, N.C., to find the Klan riding high — beating, lynching and murdering blacks at will. No one would join the NAACP for fear of Klan reprisals. Williams became president of the local chapter and increased membership from six to more than 200.

But it was not until he got a charter from the NRA in 1957 and founded the Black Armed Guard that the Klan got their comeuppance in Monroe.

Williams’ repeated thwarting of violent Klan attacks is described in his stirring book, “Negroes With Guns.” In one crucial battle, the Klan sieged the home of a black physician and his wife, but Williams and his Black Armed Guard stood sentry and repelled the larger, cowardly force. And that was the end of it.

As the Klan found out, it’s not so much fun when the rabbit’s got the gun.

The NRA’s proud history of fighting the Klan has been airbrushed out of the record by those who were complicit with the KKK, Jim Crow and racial terror, to wit: the Democrats.

wonderful gun culture reaction.

typical.

denial.

challenges.

rewriting or respinning history.

even tacit acknowlegement that gun people are stupid enough to fall for the pitch.  well, except for byte.  he's still upset for voting for Barack Husein Obama.  Yet none of youse people can cite any real advancement of any significant restrictive gun laws.  Quite the opposite, overall restrictions on guns have faded away significantly.  Yet youse people complain that you're oppressed.

It ain't for lack of trying, Johnny.   Their chit is failing and they don't even slow down.  The oppressors are like gnats that never quit, and every bite is one step closer to complete gun takeover; another nail in the coffin.  You bet your arse that's the goal.   There is no doubt about that.  We know how it works.  We weren't born yesterday.

I guess we'll see the NRA support the Black Panthers carrying their guns through white neighborhoods now! Ain't life grand!

"A gun-control movement worthy of the name would insist that President Clinton move beyond his proposals for controls ... and immediately call on Congress to pass far-reaching industry regulation like the Firearms Safety and Consumer Protection Act ... [which] would give the Treasury Department health and safety authority over the gun industry, and any rational regulator with that authority would ban handguns."
- Josh Sugarmann (executive director of the Violence Policy Center)

“If I could have gotten 51 votes in the Senate of the United States for an outright ban, picking up every one of them; “Mr. and Mrs. America, turn ‘em all in,” I would have done it.” – Feinstein 60 Minutes on CBS, 5 February, 1995.

“I don’t believe people should to be able to own guns.”
- Barack Obama (during conversation with economist and author John Lott Jr. at the University of Chicago Law School in the 1990s)

Quotes like these can be found all over the internet from the anti-gun loons.  Don't EVER tell me that no one is serious about taking our guns away, because you're full of chit.

who are these nameless liberals, witless?

some examples:

Illinois Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky
Video blogger Jason Mattera has Illinois Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky saying that an assault weapons ban is just the beginning. She also says that a complete ban on handguns could be possible through state and local action.

NY Governor Andrew Cuomo said in a radio interview in late December (audio below), “Confiscation could be an option…mandatory sale to the state could be an option.”

Dianne Feinstein, the senior Senator from California, who is leading the gun control push in the Senate said in a 1995 interview, after getting her assault weapons ban passed, “If I could have banned them all – ‘Mr. and Mrs. America turn in your guns’ – I would have!”

San Diego Police Chief William Lansdowne

According to washingtonguardian.com, San Diego’s [police chief] Lansdowne, who plays an active role in the western region of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), said in the interview it may take a generation, but guns will eventually be taken off the streets through new laws.

Former NY Mayor Ed Koch (deceased)

Former top Democratic mayor Ed Koch said he wants to ban all guns for everyone except law enforcement.
