The left's overconfidence, can and will create a very dangerous situation for them should they try to follow through. Even Japan and Germany were smart enough to not try an evasion of America for the simple reason an armed society is a well protected society.

The left is going to have to work very hard to overhaul the Bill or Rights.

That doesn't mean that they will not chip away at it by making regulations such as registering the guns which would be the first step in knowing where they are and who has them.

A couple of years ago in the leftist state of Connecticut (I think) the local newspaper published the names and addresses of all of the local citizens who had a carry permit.

Perhaps that was used as a guide for the local kooks who wish to rob and steal others and who have unregistered weapons of their own.

BTW...K IV makes a good point...that liberals want a universal background check on every gun sale...but in order for that to happen, each and every gun will need to be registered...in order to track private sales of weapons,  the government had no knowledge existed.

Many years ago Australia confiscated and cut up most guns ---EXCEPT the ones that were not registered Or turned in ,,,,Now they figure there are 200+thousand illegal guns around....

CT passed a law requiring everyone with a so called assault weapon to register  only 50 thousand of the 2.5 million they figure are in the state were registered --- Ny the same !!
