My sister lives in Vermont and every year there is a zucchini festival...
 
I bet there are plenty of odd festivals all around the country.  Growing up in Montana, we always looked forward to making extra money working the "testicle" festivals...Rocky Mountain oysters...
Not the most glamourous way to make money, but if you know how to deep fry anything, your talents are not wasted...LOL

Chitlings?  Is that the same thing that we call chitterlings in the north?  stewed and deep fried pig intestine?
 
The ewwwwwww factor for me is so strong on that one...I can still smell the boil my grandmother used to make for that crap...yuk, yuk and double yuk...then having to roll em towels to dry and then toss them in the fryers...ewwwwwwwww, I hated that...
