One device that could make school shootings a thing of the past is from the past, before we had such problems from school shootings. It is called an "Electric Chair", and it sends a lot of amps thru the person who commited the shooting. In order for the electric chair to be effective it must be consistantly used on each shooter.

The problem with your hypothesis is that execution is not a deterrent, it is after the fact, and in many cases is exactly what the perpetrator is looking for, 15 minutes of fame. He gets his name splattered in newspapers, television, and radio during the trial, then again when he is executed.

The only problem with capital punishment as a deterent is that, like our Constitution, government will not use it, and the potential shooters know it. If everyone convicted of first degree murder were executed, it would not be long before the number of capital murders dropped. It has been so long since it was consistantly used to curtail murderers, that it is in the minds of most killers that they will either beat the rap or get some nominal punishment, yet, liberals point to the fact that even though less than a few percent of capital murders result in the killer being executed as some proof that capital punishment, if applied consistantly can not deter murder.
