Let's forget about slavery for a minute and racism as well.
 
Lets look at the black family together when the father was in the home the mother knew who the father was. Now I ask you was that bad.
 
Look at what passes for a black family today {not all mind you} but the majority, no father in the home and chances are no idea of who the father or fathers is.
 
Unwed black mothers on welfare and food stamps. Some cant even look after the children they don't abort for the simple reason they are drug addicts.
 
So in sense are they better off, true they were freed from the shackles of slavery only to be placed in slavery by the government entitlement programs.
 
Slavery in any form is wrong be it in chains or government dependency. So are they really better off!
