I believe you were one of the many board conservatives who bitched and decried the Occupy Wall Street protesters.

It is utterly laughable that you are attempting to compare Government Over-reach and Posse Comitatus,  with #Occupy Pajama-Boy...

Words like traitor and terrorist are totally dependent on what side of an issue you are on. And thus those words are meaningless. Except for determining the side of that issue you are on. Such meaningless words should be dropped from usage.

It would be laughable that Jim is so clueless about Occupy, if it were not so sad.

Today, the word, "Terrorist" and especially, "Domestic Terrorist" are used by tyrants to depict those who stand up to them. Traditionally it meant those who use acts of violence to compell compliance with their political demands the way the administration arms drug gangs to effect the view of the second amendment or when Islamic followers highjacked the planes and crashed them into the World Trade Centers.

So called islamic terrorism is them standing up to the very same tyrants as so called domestic terrorists are standing up to.

Only difference is the side of the issue you are on. The word terrorist lost all meaning when the war on terrorism first began, if not before then. It is purely a political word, just like traitor.

I say that more so over domestic terrorism, because in this country we say that government is "Of the people...". If a large group of these, "Of the people" are that upset with government, the problem is most likely with the government.

Despite our government's misuse of the word, there is a definition.

Not more so, it is exactly the same. The word terrorism may have a dictionary definition but its use ever since the war on terrorism has rendered it meaningless, a mere propaganda word. You want to have your cake and eat it too. You want to use the propaganda word when it suits you, and denounce the word when it does not.

Terrorist and traitor are meaningless words that ONLY serve to define the person using it.

Essentially there are no such things as terrorists and traitors. Everyone is a terrorist, nobody is. Everyone is a traitor, nobody is. The words have no real meaning.

Darkflower, I understand what you are saying, though I disagree. If a word is misused enough does the word retain it's actual meaning. I say that it does, yet, I do understand why you see it otherwise. It happens, such as the word, "Gay", which meant happy, until it had been used so often to describe homosexuals that it now means that, but in most cases a word still means what it always meant, despite how often it is misused. Misuse will affect the denotive meaning, but that is most often the full extent.

Traitors?

War tax resistance, popularized by Henry David Thoreau in the 19th century and by singer Joan Baez and others during the Vietnam War, is gaining renewed interest among peace activists upset over the Iraq war.

"Clearly this year we definitely had more people calling, sending e-mails about how they decided to start resisting," said Ruth Benn, coordinator of the National War Tax Resistance Coordinating Committee in New York.

Based on the committee's mailing list and reports from numerous groups it works with around the country, Benn estimates 8,000 to 10,000 Americans refuse to pay some or all of their federal taxes over war objections. Internal Revenue Service officials say they don't have figures for that specific category, but earlier this year reported an overall noncompliance rate of 16.3 percent and estimated the annual tax gap at about $345 billion.
