Common Core Scrubs ‘Liberty’ as a Founding Principle

Much of the controversy surrounding Common Core standards has centered on nonsensical Math as well as the story problems used and far-left progressive text replacing American literary classics in English. Critics have been told that Common Core is simply teaching kids problem solving skills. However, there is growing concern with the lessons involved in Common Core far beyond the nonsense Math being taught and the reading being assigned. The latest controversy comes out of the state of New York.

EAGnews.org reports on the latest set of Common Core social studies standards being proposed in New York for children in grades K – 8. Here is the standard in question taken from the 2nd grade social studies standards.

Among the standards is how students will learn about the history of America. On page 32, the draft document deals with “civic ideals and practices.”

“The United States is founded on the principles of democracy, and these principles are reflected in all types of communities,” it reads.

As the lesson continues, it is apparent that a blatant rewriting of history to fall in line with progressive ideology is being taught to these young impressionable minds.

“The United States is founded on the democratic principles of equality, fairness, and respect for authority and rules,” the standards document says.

Further, “Students will explore democratic principles such as dignity for all, equality, fairness, and respect for authority and rules, and how those principles are applied to their community,” it reads.

Not only is this list being taught to second graders a perversion of the principles upon which America was actually founded, but also noticeably missing from this list of principles upon which the country was founded is liberty, the very thing under attack on a daily basis by the left led by Barack Obama.

What happened to “liberty”? You know, a word that actually appears in the Declaration of Independence? It’s a word that means more than just about any other word in our national history. It refers to personal freedom, and the right of citizens to live their lives without the intrusion of tyrannical government.

These new standards in the state of New York have not yet been approved. The mere proposal of such a rewriting of history with an overt progressive spin completely counter to the intentions of our Founding Fathers should bring about great concern for the indoctrination that is occurring in our schools.

It helps bring students up to the level of the students in countries who they will be in competition with for jobs. Common Core prepares students to come up with the wrong answer and still expect to get credit for it. That in turn promotes making wrong decisions at work and still expecting to be paid for it.
 
But back to the Topic:  The Left have already proven their disdain for Liberty.  Socialism doesn't allow it. Neither does Communism, and neither do prison camps.  Meaning:  Socialism, Communism, and prison camps have something in common.  But we already knew what that was.   Lack of Liberty..
