management hung to its  conservative (read right wing) base believing the

old way was the best way (remember when invading third world countries was so

profitable?) and easy?

the unions can share some blame but they didn't run the companies

when they did well bosses got big bonuses

when they did unwell workers got fucked

it were ever thus but knowing the truth could make the next time a little less
