Title: Our latest project...
Post by: takncarabizniz on 07 06, 19, 11:51:00:AM
Getting the firepit revamped.  Hubby rented a sod cutter, (what a backbreaking life saver), and we got the area cut, prepped, the edging set, and the fire run of pavers reset...after hubby gets back from a parts run for his old truck, we'll start graveling and hopefully finish it up today.  Tomorrow, I have been promised a trip to the "big mall" about 30 miles away so we can choose new outdoor lighting for the house.  Then we'll start removing all the shelving from the shed and start cutting and stacking wood.  Most of our big projects are finished for the reunion, it's time to start getting the house spruced up...LOL

I got tired just look at the photo.
Miss the Northwest more every day.

Are you planning on coming back up here don, or did you burn your bridges?  The family would like us to go back to CA - but then they enjoy visiting up here too.

No plans to return except to visit friends and family.
Donna loves the dry sun shine.  She got tired of clouds and cold.
Hemet just had its coldest and wettest winter in years!
Though it seems to me she was out and about more up there than, down here.
I know I was, didn't have to consider traffic or weather much in Anacortes.  Only avoiding Seattle.  Or Vancouver BC, at times.
Here is is always a factor.
I went fishing in all kinds of weather up there, restrict my self to mornings here.  Cloths to protect me from the sun cost more than warm clothing too.
We have more family down here, but seem to see them less.

Thank you.  We got it all graveled, rebuilt the pit, and enjoyed it last night.  Now, I have to find lighting that will sustain without cords or solar.  I keep finding battery operated string lights or motion sensors, but that's not really what I want to hang off the shed.  We may resort to our camping lanterns.

Our plan was to put in Adirondack chairs but we love our Costco fold ups with the little side tables so much, we're just going to get more of those for now.

And yes, that half brick area is an air pass through...we put one on each side and it really makes a difference in how the fire feeds...

It's looking so good and a wonderful place to relax.
I just saw on my email that Rite-Aid have a 70% off sale on their outdoor furniture.  Might want to check it out, if you have one nearby.

thank you.

I stopped shopping at Rite Aid years ago after they too went to a "loyalty card" and even though their advertised price on the shelf didn't say with card, I had a cartload of garden goodies (little decor stakes, statuaries, planters, etc, and when I got to the checkout, they wouldn't honor the prices.  I even went back and grabbed one of the shelf placards that just said buy one, get one 50% off and they still wouldn't honor it...so I walked out.  LOL

I get a bee in my bonnet sometimes, LOL

Yesterday I got some  cone daisy half off at Walmart in the clearance.   Today, the lady said no, they were not half off so I left a tray of 6 on the counter. They are on clearance. The man said they just did not get the labels yet. Guess I have to keep going back until the label gets on them, hopefully before they neglect them in the heat.

Yeah, Walmart is inconsistent.  I bought 4 dianthus plants they had on the clearance rack...walked 20 feet and the same exact color and size pots were still on the regular rack.  I asked the garden center manager and he said until they get the yellow tag, they stay regular price...I took my 4 and will keep going back as well, LOL...

This lady was just too lazy to put the price on them. The other guy did it at the check out counter. He was the one who told me they were discounted. I was going to buy them anyway but because  of her attitude, I didn't buy any of them.

Today I am stuck home and hope nobody buys them. Our streets are being paved this week and I don't want tar on my car.

Rite Aid did away with the loyalty card, also the stupid Plenti  card.  Now membership is tied to your phone number.  Walgreens - the same now.  Unless it's a small independent store you can hardly shop anywhere any more without becoming a "member".

So the hubby borrowed our beekeeper's tractor to work the driveway graveling...it's pretty much the same model he was looking at.  I took a stab at it and did some of our trailer pad...I suck at getting bucket loads, but it's fun...I predict this year's Christmas present will be a new Kubota.
