Title: Release Trump's Tax Returns, or lose job and go to Prison!
Post by: Truman62 on 04 12, 19, 11:50:48:AM
Are you willing to take a bullet for Trump, literally?

If Treasury & IRS refuse to turn over Trump's Tax Returns, the law STATES that
both of them will lose their jobs and go to jail for 5 years.

Yes, Trump can pardon them, but they will NOT get their jobs back.

I know why Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin and Charles Rettig, the IRS commissioner, are so cautious. They don’t want to be removed from
office and sent to prison for five years just for doing Trump’s bidding.

The reason will no doubt surprise those who think Trump can thumb his nose at the law governing congressional access to anyone’s tax returns,
including his. It will for sure shock Trump, who claims that "the law is 100 percent on my side."

The exact opposite is true.
Under Section 6103 of our tax code, Treasury officials “shall” turn over the tax returns “upon written request” of the chair of either congressional
tax committee or the federal employee who runs Congress's Joint Committee on Taxation. No request has ever been refused, a host of former
congressional tax aides tell me.

There is, however, a law requiring every federal “employee” who touches the tax system to do their duty or be removed from office.

Contempt of Congress!

Have them arrested and put in the Capital holding cells.  (http://www.aesopsretreat.com/forum/Smileys/classic/police.gif)

Lock them up!  See if a week in holding helps them read and understand the responsibilities of their job as described in the oath they took in getting the job.

They haven't decided if they are working for the US Citizens, or Donald Trump yet.

They need a deadline, like Monday to decide.

If they want to work for Donald Trump, then they need to be fired and go to jail.

If they work for US Citizens, then they will release the Tax Returns.

Just as long as Eric Holder joins them.

Mnuchin has decided he works for Donald Trump and NOT the US Citizens.

https://www.yahoo.com/gma/democrats-deadline-trumps-tax-returns-looms-doubles-down-151700053.html

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said his agency won't make the Wednesday deadline House Democratsset for the IRS to respond to their request
for President Donald Trump’s tax returns and is consulting with the Department of Justice on how to proceed.

"The legal implications of this request could affect protections for all Americans against politically motivated of personal tax information, regardless of
which party is in power," Mnuchin wrote in a letter to House Ways and Means Committee chairman Rep. Richard Neal, D-Mass.

Meanwhile, the president on Wednesday doubled down on his position that he won't be making them public -- at least for now.

In doing so, the president reiterated his oft-cited rationale for withholding his tax information -- claiming they were under audit -- although that has
never been confirmed.

Hilarious reasoning coming from an Administration KNOWN for its Partisanship!

poor chuckles...try and pay attention.

your distraction is 100% bullchit.  has zero relevance to the subject at hand.

If your Republican stooges didn't try that when they were in power - it will never happen.

Mr. Holder never did anything to justify contempt of congress.

when you can muster up something intelligent to post...it will be a first.

That's what they all say, except his was ruled in contempt of congress.  Lock him up if you're going to lock anyone up.

No doubt this will go to the courts and eventually the Supreme Court!

Then we will find out if the right to privacy really exists!

THAT's so cute Omi, but it has to be a signed request from the Head of the Tax Committee in Congress.

BTW - Feel free to see my taxes.  I had to pay $1000 this year.  :(

No it doesn't.  No law is written to affect only one individual.

Section 6103(f) does place conditions on the exercise of the authority to obtain tax return information by the Ways and Means Committee as all such returns must be viewed only in closed session.

26 U.S. Code § 6103. Confidentiality and disclosure of returns and return information

(f) Disclosure to Committees of Congress

(1) Committee on Ways and Means, Committee on Finance, and Joint Committee on Taxation
Upon written request from the chairman of the Committee on Ways and Means of the House of Representatives, the chairman of the Committee on Finance of the Senate, or the chairman of the Joint Committee on Taxation, the Secretary shall furnish such committee with any return or return information specified in such request, except that any return or return information which can be associated with, or otherwise identify, directly or indirectly, a particular taxpayer shall be furnished to such committee only when sitting in closed executive session unless such taxpayer otherwise consents in writing to such disclosure.

Rep. Richard Neal is the chair of the House Ways and Means Committee and legally can access Fuhrer Trump's tax returns.

(2) Chief of Staff of Joint Committee on Taxation
Upon written request by the Chief of Staff of the Joint Committee on Taxation, the Secretary shall furnish him with any return or return information specified in such request. Such Chief of Staff may submit such return or return information to any committee described in paragraph (1), except that any return or return information which can be associated with, or otherwise identify, directly or indirectly, a particular taxpayer shall be furnished to such committee only when sitting in closed executive session unless such taxpayer otherwise consents in writing to such disclosure.

(3) Other committees
Pursuant to an action by, and upon written request by the chairman of, a committee of the Senate or the House of Representatives (other than a committee specified in paragraph (1)) specially authorized to inspect any return or return information by a resolution of the Senate or the House of Representatives or, in the case of a joint committee (other than the joint committee specified in paragraph (1)) by concurrent resolution, the Secretary shall furnish such committee, or a duly authorized and designated subcommittee thereof, sitting in closed executive session, with any return or return information which such resolution authorizes the committee or subcommittee to inspect. Any resolution described in this paragraph shall specify the purpose for which the return or return information is to be furnished and that such information cannot reasonably be obtained from any other source.

No member of congress has the right to disclose any individual's return without that individual's written consent!

Jw2, how did Harry Reid (D) become a multi-Millionaire solely on a Senator's salary?

Care to explain?
