Title: “Pray for his spine,” Post by: wvit1001 on 03 14, 19, 04:45:05:PM Senator Ben Sasse (R-NE) is being ripped to shreds by Twitter after voting to expand President Donald Trump’s powers over Congress. Sasse’s problem is that he touts himself as a Constitutional conservative, so giving the president the authorization of declaring a national emergency to pay for a pet project is hypocritical.
He joins 19 other senators who are up for reelection in 2020, and of those 20 Republicans, all but one voted to expand the president’s powers. At least one senator, Sen. Thom Tillis (R-SC), said that he refused to allow the national emergency to go through. But when it came time to vote, Tillis backed down, fearful of possible primary challenges from Reps. Mark Meadows (R-SC) and Mark Walker (R-SC), the Washington Post’s Robert Costa tweeted.
