It's been topping for a year and now on the down slope. People forget that typical bears are gradual, not the fast crashes and recoveries we have been seeing. We haven't seen a bear in so long, it's easy to forget. The bond market is starting an upswing, which is what normally occurs at the same time a bear begins. It happened in 2000 and 2007. The 2007 bear was only about a year long, which is uncharacteristically short for a bear. The 2000 bear only lasted 3 years which is also uncharacteristically short. People used to buying the dips in a seemingly never ending bull are going to get wacked thinking that buying the dips will serve them in a bear market they don't recognize.

Moderate growth is forecast for the next year. Earnings support a higher valuation. Interest rates are low. Inflation is low. There is no justification for predicting a catastrophic collapse.
