Title: A day well spent
Post by: takncarabizniz on 03 11, 18, 10:17:42:PM
Started out making a hearty breakfast of BLTs and fresh fruit, then we headed outside to get something done...I managed to finish cleaning all the debris out of the driveways and traffic circle, then I sprayed Roundup around the whole area.
After that, I got out the cutting equipment and headed back to the east 40 to continue clearing along the road where I will transplant all the ugly little emerald green arborvitae so I can put in my new arbor and garden out in front of the house.

Hubby joined in and we cleared another 15 or so feet of blackberries...dog tired...and it's not really cleaned up yet, just knocked the big stuff down and got it out of the way.  All in all, the day was gorgeous, must have been almost 60 degrees...my 5 year plan is still on track...LOL

Our goal is to uncover that next spruce tree buried in the blackberries.  There is butterfly bush on the other side of that as well, but I may not be able to get to it for a while, the ground is pretty soft in that area.
Once we get the new garden done, I want to get some more cedar trees in as they are one of my favorite reforestation plants...beauty is in the eye of the beholder and I see so much potential here, but it's definitely going to take time...

You two are amazing!  Reminds me of when we bought the dilapidated beach house and turned it and the land around it into a magical place.  It can only grow in value and it will all be so enjoyable when you finally get to relax.

All I can think about is tools and more tools....rentals and bought ....or borrowed

Protect your back...at all cost...

Looking up is what I can see...

Don't dismiss pre-owned rototillers you can get on  line such as Letgo or any estate sale Etc they work just as good as the new ones....

I've been checking craigslist, found one that looked good, but it was already sold.  I want a front tiller, not the back tiller, as it will be easier for me to handle and I won't feel insecure about having the blades that close to my feet, given all the blackberry and ivy root we'll be hitting.

Better get really tough gardening boots in any event if you get it.

I have a great pair of Justin leather boots that I use when the weather is not mucky.
