Title: My question is...
Post by: lakitss on 09 04, 15, 05:27:33:PM
...seeing as how the clerk in Kentucky being Christian and all, refusing to issue a gay marriage license, when can we expect a muslim mosque to start conducting homosexual marriages or face jail?

In America only Christians face persecution these days.

The difference would be in whether or not they are considered public or private entities.  But given how Christians have been treated in business, trying to refuse service, I would fathom that any Muslim church or business should be treated the same.

I do not think this is all over yet and do believe Kim Davis will prevail.  She offered alternatives and she was elected prior to the changed in the law, so unless the Kentucky Constitution and the contract for her job unequivocally state that she must adapt to any and all changes to law, then she was right to offer alternatives or refuse to issue licenses...but I will also ask this again, with apparently 6 other clerks in that office, why wouldn't the gay couples simply ask for one of them, 5 of 6 of whom said they would issue the licenses?  It's because the gay agenda is out to ruin lives, nothing more...they are thin skinned and malicious...

You won't see a Mosque put into that position because you won't see religiously active Gay muslims announcing themselves.

Seems to me, that perhaps there needs to be a complete reevaluation of how people perceive they are being discriminated against.  If a law is new, and a person was put into position prior to that law, then there should have, at the very least, been a back up plan in place...Kentucky is not exactly the hotbed of gay relationships, so I can see where Ms. Davis might have been given time to look closely at her role and for her superiors to have simply graced the deputy clerks w/ the power to issue licenses (BTW, at least one of them disagrees with having to issue gay marriage licenses)...and Ms. Davis, by virtue of foregoing issuance for anyone, should not have been accused of discrimination at all...
