It looks like one of the Pasiflora vines - there are tons of them.  Maybe it's "Passion Flower".

No, not a passion vine. It's in the exotic catagory. I'll give answer tomorrow.

I was almost thinking passiflora coccicina, but then the stamen and those big cornstalk like leaves gave me pause...
 
Is it related to bird of paradise?

It's called Gloriosa....rothschildiana.  It grows up to 72 inches tall.

How beautiful to grow to six feet - I haven't seen one like that except in pictures.

This is the first  for me too. I found it al Wal-mart this spring in a bag for $5 each. I put out 4 of them and only one plant grew. :-(
