Title: It was a dark and stormy night
Post by: emilyB on 05 17, 10, 11:49:18:PM
Thanks to my pet chicken, Edgar, we didn't get much sleep last night.  He freaks out in thunderstorms and with every rumble and flash we could hear him pitter pattering all over the wood floors and then boom into the bedroom and round and round the bed breathing heavy dog breath on our faces - in and out of the bathroom tapping on the tiled floor until hubby left and went to the guest room!  I ended up finally settling him down by the side of the bed and I fell asleep drawing gentle circles on his curly head until the quivering stopped.   I hate to give him a tranquilizer as the arthritis medication is enough and I save the calming meds for the Fourth - when he is a nightmare!

Poor baby...

Our dog shakes all the time, so I couldn't tell ya if he's scared or not...

Do you know why he shakes a lot takn?  Is he getting old?  He is so cute.

LOL, no...

He shakes when he's excited, he shakes when he's cold (which he seems to be most the time prompting him to want to cuddle with any available human), he shakes when he is told to go to his bed, he shakes when he sees another dog...

His like a wiggle worm that can't stop...he is about 6 or 7 now, but the vet tells us he should live a long time, little dogs tend to have longer life spans...

Takn....Edgar was born in Wenatchee, WA.  The breeder had two purebreds but only had one litter and Edgar went to a family in Seattle who got divorced and so Edgar was put into Airedale Rescue at 2 years old.  We were searching for an Airedale on the net and found him in Airedale Rescue in Salem.   We applied and were scrutinized very thoroughly before we were allowed to adopt him and they do keep tabs on him even though he just turned 11.  I can't bear to see him getting old!  This is a picture of him when we first got him - when he was just a kid!
